Training focused on sound clinical judgement
I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with exclusive dedication to hand and wrist surgery and microsurgery since the beginning of my professional career.
I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2006 and completed my specialist training in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery through the Spanish national residency programme (MIR) from 2007 onwards.
During my training and early years as a specialist, it became clear to me that hand surgery requires specific, prolonged and rigorous training.
For this reason, I undertook several advanced clinical fellowships in nationally and internationally recognised centres, with a particular focus on complex hand and wrist pathology and microsurgery.
Specialised training and clinical fellowships
I have expanded my training in hand surgery through fellowships and clinical attachments with leading specialists:
- Clinical fellowship with Dr Francisco del Piñal, at Dr Piñal y Asociados and Hospital de la Mutua Montañesa (Santander, Spain).
- Clinical attachment at the Institut Kaplan (Barcelona), under the supervision of Drs Albert Lluch, Marc Garcia-Elias, Àngel Ferreres and Àlex Lluch.
- Diploma in Vascular and Nerve Microsurgery, obtained at the Experimental Surgery Centre of Hospital Parc Taulí (Sabadell), under the auspices of the Official Medical College of Barcelona, the Spanish Association of Microsurgery and the Spanish Society for Hand Surgery.
- European Diploma in Hand Surgery (EBHS) awarded by the Federation of the European Societies for Surgery of the Hand.
- AO Trauma Fellowship at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto, Canada), with Drs David Stephen and Terry Axelrod.
- FESSH Travel Award, with a fellowship at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre (Derby, United Kingdom).
This training has allowed me to integrate different surgical schools and approaches, and to develop my own clinical judgement based on experience and careful individual assessment of each case.
Hospital-based clinical experience
Throughout my residency and subsequent specialist practice, I have worked in several hospitals in Mallorca, managing both common and complex hand and wrist conditions.
- Hospital Son Llàtzer (Palma de Mallorca)
Specialist training and later clinical practice in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, with a focus on hand and wrist pathology, upper limb surgery and microsurgery. - Hospital Comarcal de Inca (Mallorca)

Research, teaching and scientific activity
Alongside my clinical activity, I have been involved in clinical research and in the training of orthopaedic residents, within the hospital setting.
I have participated in experimental research projects and contributed to scientific publications and educational activities, maintaining continuous professional development and critical appraisal of clinical practice.
- Active participation in national and international congresses and courses, including teaching roles as an instructor in specialised training programmes.
- Experimental research project on arteriovenous fistula patency, conducted at the Experimental Surgery Centre of Hospital Parc Taulí (Sabadell).
